A lot of L fans don't like Near because they say he isn't as good and he never will be. After L Near is my favorite Death Note character, and I was rooting for him in the second half (I didn't like Mello until he was dead). It's strange that so many people dislike him when he's actually very like L. Not only do they have similar quirks, but he looks like L and personality-wise he's like L. He's very emotionally distant where Mello doesn't mind letting the whole world know how he feels. Even though he's technically not a kid, because he looks and acts like one every time he'd come on screen I'd just want to yell "Aw, you're the cutest kid in the world!" and throw my arms around him. Near is my baby. :D
